Senior Backend Engineer (BE)

Who you are
● You’re a software engineer with at least senior 7 years commercial experience
● You’re looking to develop your skills further as part of an in house team
● You have a genuine enthusiasm for software engineering and take no greater
pleasure than finding the right solution to the problem at hand

What you will do
Develop web based systems
● Develop functionality for our own products, administration systems and e-commerce
capabilities using modern frameworks
● Develop and maintain integrations with third party systems
● Develop our APIs

Work in a team environment
● You’ll work with other software engineers, designers, QAs and product managers
● You’ll communicate your ideas and plan your work
● You’ll peer review your colleagues work

What we need from you

● At least senior:7 years of commercial experience as a software engineer or

equivalent

● In-depth knowledge of PHP7/8+

● Familiarity with modern PHP frameworks, preferably Symfony

● Solid understanding of OO programming concepts and patterns

● Familiarity with version control using Git and associated workflows

● Experience with TDD and unit testing

● A strong desire to learn and to contribute to the team’s work

Other skills you might have

● A degree in CS or equivalent is a plus

● Good understanding of HTML and CSS

● Familiarity with modern JS frameworks

● Experience designing and building RESTful APIs

● Knowledge of relational databases

● Comfortable on the command line of *NIX machines

● Experience working in cross functional teams

● An eye for user behaviour and design
