Job description

We are hiring an SEO Lead with 3+ years experience to help drive the growth of MANUAL from an organic perspective. This role is a great opportunity to make a huge difference to the growth of one of the most successful health-tech startups in Europe.

Collaborating closely with various stakeholders across the business, you will play a pivotal role in redefining our SEO strategy, establishing the SEO engine within the company, and scaling SEO efforts globally. From day one, you will have substantial ownership and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Success for this role will mean growing our share of natural search traffic and acquisitions across all our categories and areas of healthcare which overlap with the conditions we treat.

We are looking for someone with strong expertise within the SEO space, but more importantly, someone with a lot of determination, passion and hunger. We want someone who is ready to take a big step forward in their career, taking extreme ownership of this project and doing whatever it takes to drive it forward. This is a hybrid role, at least initially, combining strategy (with support from the team), alongside execution.

This role will sit within the Growth team and reports into the Head of Growth at MANUAL. This is an opportunity to experience significant personal growth and to accelerate your career.

Our office space is based in Bermondsey and our current policy is 3 days in the office per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Re-define and deliver the company SEO strategy and roadmap for both of our existing markets (UK & BR). This is inclusive of on and off page SEO, content SEO and technical SEO too. This strategy and roadmap will be aligned to our target audience and company goals, which are centred around driving better health outcomes and company growth.

  • Develop and take ownership of a content calendar that supports business goals and targets the most important search terms. This will involve the organisation of content writers (freelance, in-house) and developing internal processes to ensure we are posting medically accurate, but engaging and valuable content to potential patients.

  • Implementing best practices for managing on-page content, optimising on-page elements to improve performance, and enhance user engagement through a great user experience.

  • Carrying out keyword research and competitor analysis to deeply understand our landscape and benchmarking vs competitors, enabling us to prioritise what will deliver the most business value.

  • Tracking, analysing and reporting on key data to report back to the wider business and key stakeholders on our progress on SEO and any changes to the roadmap, identifying any learnings and blockers in the process.

  • You will gain ownership over a healthy SEO budget to ensure you have all the resources you need to deliver on the strategy and roadmap

  • Building out the SEO engine at the company, globally, defining all necessary processes (content development and QA, content optimisation etc.) and the necessary stakeholders that should be involved. You will be embedded in a cross-functional team that includes colleagues from growth, legal, product, creative, medical and commercial.

  • Working alongside our Brand/Creative team and PR agency to create and build stories and content which maximises our brand visibility, rankings, aids link building efforts and ultimately helps to boost domain authority.

Job requirements

  • 3+ years experience working in SEO, helping to either develop or lead on a well-defined SEO strategy.

  • Deep knowledge of SEO best practices and strong experience in Content SEO and knowledge of technical SEO.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention-to-detail

  • Excellent knowledge of working with SEO tools.

  • You take full ownership of your KPIs and care deeply about delivering successful results.

  • Strong organisational skills, and the ability to communicate timelines and expectations to a high standard.

  • You have a creative eye, and understand what good UX looks like, and are able to spot what great content looks like vs mediocre.

  • You have a commercial side to you, and are able to measure and understand the impact of your work vs key business metrics

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills (both written and verbal). The ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional colleagues, across medical, legal, creative, growth, product, etc. is key.

  • You are action-oriented and thrive in fast-paced, high-growth startup environments, demonstrating a proactive approach and a track record of turning vision into reality.

  • You are comfortable with balancing multiple responsibilities and are willing to be hands-on. This is a hybrid role which combines strategy and execution.

  • Extremely driven, curious, and ambitious, with a huge appetite for personal growth

  • Experience working in the medical/healthcare industry is preferable.
